Give Blood

Today I donated blood at the Red Cross. I'm type O-, the univeral donor. Hospitals always need a big supply of O- so the Red Cross has special incentives for us. Depending on how much we give, we can get t-shirts, jackets, etc. Last year, I donated my prize back to the Red Cross. I'm just in it for the free cookies. (Well, not really but my donation center does have Famous Amos chocolate chip cookies -- not too shabby).

If you're able to give, consider donating some blood. I stopped at 7-11 prior to going to the donation center and talked the clerks into donating. It doesn't take much time and your donation can save up to 3 lives. Pretty easy way to be a hero, don't you think? G'won, give it a try. Call 1-800-GIVE-LIFE (1-800-448-3543) or visit their website and make an appointment. Free cookies and juice -- can't beat that!

As an A+ donor (my blood type, not my grade), I second your suggestion. I used to run the blood drives in high school and have given consistently ever since. One difference between us: I bring an apple or a banana to snack on afterwards because most of the snacks at my local Red Cross blood center are loaded with hydrogenated oils. One hates to give them blood that's going to harden when refrigerated.

Hmmm. Hydrogenated oils. :)

I gave my O+ few weeks back. They weren't giving out any cool t-shirts or anything! I'm feel ripped off.

Hey, just dropped by to say hi; I read the comics blog every other day, but haven't seen this one until now. Great work!

Hey, Joanna,
Great blog! 'Tis the season for everyone to be giving and that is a truly generous gift.

We know your blood type, now we want to know five other random (or wierd) facts about you...

You're tagged. :)

Smart move, Fred! They did have raisins this time so I ate those. I like raisins.

Ed - wtg on giving blood and it's very unfair that you don't get any prizes. I guess they O- so badly they have to do whatever they can to get donors.

Plaid - thanks for dropping by and thanks so much for supporting the comic blog.

Dawn - ok, ya got me! My list is up. Now to find a new victim...
